Someone stole my Ipod Touch...?

So someone stole my Ipod Touch at school in May and I tried to get down to the bottom of who stole it before school was out but I never got it back and school is out now, so I will probably never get it back. I know your probably thinking im irresponsible and your probably right but I would really like to get a new one and I promise that I will never take it to school when it starts again. I have learned my lesson. But my question is..Do you know of a way that I can get another Ipod touch for free or cheaper? The ipod touch i had was 4th generation and it was a 32gb so it costs $300 and I know my mom doesnt want to pay that much for it again( she was extremely mad about me losing it). I had to work hard for that ipod and I only had it for 3 months until it was stolen. So PLEASE help me, I really want another ipod.
